Buy Rockwool Roof Insulation Boards

Rockwool is a well-trusted insulation brand that manufactures Rockwool Hardrock insulation, the boards are made from volcanic rock, which has been spun and bound together in a wool-like fleece.

At UKFR, you can find a wide range of Rockwool insulation boards including multi-fix, underlay and UB34, all ideal for a variety of flat roof insulation projects.

All of these are great flat roof solutions, however, there are some differences between them.

Rockwool HardRock Multifix DD

Rockwool Hardrock Multifix is a versatile stone wool insulation board suitable for any refurbishment project. It has exceptional acoustic and fire resistance properties for the highest performance possible and can be used on a wide range of flat roofing systems including single-ply, flat roofs, inverted roofs, pitched roofs and cavity walls.

With Hardrock Multifix you can expect:

  • The highest fire class rating (Euroclass A2 non-combustibility and tested to the highest LPCB standards)
  • Excellent acoustic performance
  • Long-term durability
  • Thermal conductivity: 0.039 W/mK
  • Waterproofing resistance: 5.9 MNs/gm

Please note the grade and fire resistance increases with the thickness range. Further specifications can be found on the datasheets found on the relevant product pages.

These are available in varying thicknesses between 60-150mm and can be bought as individual insulation boards or in pallet sizes ranging from 6 to 20. If you require more than 20, please get in contact with us and we can arrange a bespoke quote.

When installing multi-fix insulation, Rockwool Hardrock Underlay can be used alongside it to improve its thermal performance.

Rockwool Hardrock UB34

Rockwool Hardrock UB34 is similar to multi-fix, however, it features a 6mm cement fibre board on the surface making it more impact and weather-resistant. It's most often used when you need the most durable solution, such applications include upstands and parapet walls.

What you can expect:

  • Non-combustible Euroclass A2-s1,d0
  • Excellent acoustic reduction, absorption and impact performance
  • Excellent thermal insulation: 0.034 W/mK
  • Long-term durability
  • Impact and weather-resistant
  • Easy to handle on-site

Please note that whilst it's easy to install, it is heavy and you may require assistance when moving it into loft spaces. Further specifications can be found on the datasheets found on the relevant product pages.

These are available in 56mm thick insulation boards (50mm insulation, 6mm cement fibre board) and can be bought individually or in pallet sizes of 72. If you require a certain amount of boards, please get in contact with us and we can arrange a bespoke quote

Frequently Asked Questions

Multi-fix has good thermal performance and fire safety and is suitable for a variety of roof coverings including:

  • Fully bonded, partially bonded, mechanically fastened single-ply membrane systems and EPDM membrane systems
  • Torch-applied, bitumen-based and mastic asphalt built-up systems
  • Liquid membranes / Liquid applied systems
  • Green roof systems

On the other hand, UB34 is more impact and weather-resistant and is more suitable for upstands and parapet walls, UB34 is the best choice.

Rockwool insulation is a stone-based insulation made from volcanic rocks which have been melted in a cupola furnace, spun, given water-repellency treatment and bound together in a wool-like fleece.

Rockwool insulation is relatively easy to install but may require assistance moving into loft spaces. When moving and installing the product, you should wear the correct PPE including face mask, gloves, long sleeves and trousers to ensure your skin does not come into direct contact with it.

If it gets on your skin, you should rinse it with cold water as it is a mechanical irritant.

No. Rockwool is a mineral wool and therefore is naturally inert, rot-proof and doesn't support the growth of funghi, mould or bacteria.
